Why use me instead of employing someone?
My first job in wine was Vineyard Assistant at Lilydale Vineyards in the Yarra Valley, Australia. Due to a quad bike accident and a badly broken arm, I was no longer allowed to drive a tractor so returned to the UK to take up a role as Buying Assistant at Anthony Byrne Fine Wines. In 1999, I moved to work as Assistant Buyer at Lay & Wheeler, during which time I completed by WSET Diploma.
For the past 20+ years, my husband Caspar Bowes and I have run our own wine business, Bowes Wine Ltd. In additional to fine wine sales and portfolio management for private individuals and British expats, we ran a wine auction service, GrapePip, for some years and loved running our own wine club, The Daily Drinker, for 13 years. Whilst Bowes Wine continues to offer fine wine broking for our clients' wines, we have streamlined the business to liberate both of us to pursue other strands of work. During these 25 years, I have gained a wide range of administrative skills and of course an extensive knowledge of the process of running a wine business. Many of these skills are transferrable and applicable to any administrative role but with my heart still in wine, I am keen to stay within that world and use my specific wine-trade knowledge.
Anyone who has worked with or for me will back me up when I tell you that I am a highly organised individual with excellent administration skills; I have an innate ability to multi-task whilst also paying attention to detail. I am very personable, easy to work and communicate with, and reliable. I have a strong "can-do" attitude: I am solution-focused and will use all my resources and creative thinking to get a job done.
As a small business owner, I am only too familiar with the administrative burden of the tasks that need to be done in any given day. However, I am also aware of the headaches and financial burden that can be involved with employing personnel.
The easy and cost-effective solution is to use a Virtual Assistant to get this work done: flexible, scale-able, no unexpected costs, no hassle.
