Riesling - Grape Variety

Late budding makes Riesling useful for growing in the colder parts of the world, as does its hard wood which is capable of withstanding extremely low temperatures; it is grown throughout the cooler parts of Europe and extensively in the New World. It is an aromatic grape variety and is used to make any one of a number of white wine styles, from dry to fully sweet and nobly rotten, even sparkling. Riesling can produce quality wine from high yields and from fruit that is not physiologically ripe and can communicate terroir minutely. It can also produce the most age-worthy wines in the world.
