Petit Verdot is planted in many locations around the world, from Spain to Argentina and Israel to Uruguay but Bordeaux is its true spiritual home. At these latitudes it is not always easy to ripen, so it fell out of favour for a while. However, its addition to the classic Bordeaux blends adds colour, structure and flavour, notably spice. Petit Verdot ripens more reliably in some of the New World wine regions of the world where it is made into a single varietal wine, with good levels of success.
