Bourboulenc is an ancient white grape variety from Provence. It is now grown throughout southern France and is perhaps most famously one of the 13 authorised varieties in the wines of Châteauneuf-du-Pape. It is also permitted in the white wines of the appellation plus those of Bandol, Corbières, La Clape and Minervois. Bourboulenc is appreciated for its ability to retain acidity in torrid latitudes; it also produces good yields and is resistant to botrytis.
