Jean Chauvenet's son-in-law Christophe Drag now runs this domaine of almost 10 hectares, all of which lie within the commune of Nuits St Georges. It makes for quite a tasting, a visit here, since Christophe vinifies seven premiers crus vineyards, as well as a number of village/lieu dit cuvées. In a controlled environment like this, the differences of terroir character in each vineyard are transparent.

Very nice bramble purity of fruit on the nose, plus something more domesticated: raspberry most likely contender. There’s a distinct whiff of the earth about it, too. This is really firm and loaded with firm structure. It’s very fresh right through, the very mineral-rocky core enveloped by ripe, fresh fruit, red and black. Very long and loaded with terroir. Very firmly fresh too. This is super. Bowes Wine original note
"Planted in 1936, the birth year of Jean Chauvenet. Magical dense purple, brilliant fruit weight here, such energy, only a little acidity but it is enough. Fills the mouth with stylish, I won’t say elegant, but really suave fruit. The wines from this vineyard are the epitome of Nuits-St-Georges for Christoph Drag, who wishes the name was better known in the wine world." Jasper Morris
All our wines are given a Sweetness Indicator from 1 to 5, with 1 being the driest and 5 being the sweetest.
This can be found for every wine under the Wine Details tab.
Most red wines are dry and therefore are indicated with a 1. The sweetness becomes more relevant with white wines, sparkling wines and pudding/dessert wines such as Sauternes and Tokaji.
