Wine has been made at Figeac since Roman times, when the estate was founded by a man named Figeacus. The chateau one can see today was built in 1780 at a time when the vineyard occupied 200 hectares of the surrounding land. Since that time, various parts of the vineyard have been sold off (not least to neighbouring Cheval Blanc), which explains why there are so many properties in St Emilion with the word Figeac in their title. In 1947 Figeac's business was taken over by Thierry Manoncourt, it having belonged to his grandmother so some time before that. The first temperature controlled stainless steel vats were installed here in 1971, the first of any Right Bank estates. Manoncourt died in 2010 and in 2012 Michel Rolland was brought in as consultant, which has resulted in a surge in quality here.

"The 2015 Figeac has a wonderful bouquet with pure blackberry, raspberry and mineral aromas, very focused and precise with discreet earthy scents emerging with time. The palate is very precise with crisp acidity, taut and linear with a very detailed and persistent finish. This is quintessential Figeac trying to steal some of the glory from the imperious 2016! It needs time but just wait until this blossoms." Neal Martin
All our wines are given a Sweetness Indicator from 1 to 5, with 1 being the driest and 5 being the sweetest.
This can be found for every wine under the Wine Details tab.
Most red wines are dry and therefore are indicated with a 1. The sweetness becomes more relevant with white wines, sparkling wines and pudding/dessert wines such as Sauternes and Tokaji.
