This is a fifth-generation estate that owns vineyards in some of the Côte de Beaune's finest terroirs. Jean-Pierre Charlot is wine maker. He is the son-in-law of Joseph Voillot and took over fully in 1995, having worked with his father-in-law since 1980. Before he joined the domaine, Jean-Pierre was a professor at the Lycée Viticole in Beaune. He now makes some of the loveliest and longest-keeping wines of the region.
This is a deeply coloured and really quitee closed wine. I can find some smoky, black, piquant fruits. This is fresh and quite snappy. There's a nutty/earthy nuance here. Entry is rich and supple, of dark cherry fruit. It goes on to amass a cranberry freshness that leads on to tacky, chalky tannin. Grip is piquant fresh and really pretty intense. Lots of structure and concentration here for a long life. Extraordinary finish.
All our wines are given a Sweetness Indicator from 1 to 5, with 1 being the driest and 5 being the sweetest.
This can be found for every wine under the Wine Details tab.
Most red wines are dry and therefore are indicated with a 1. The sweetness becomes more relevant with white wines, sparkling wines and pudding/dessert wines such as Sauternes and Tokaji.
