2009 Château Mouton Rothschild, Pauillac

2009 Château Mouton Rothschild, Pauillac

Ref: BORD0914
Red  |  Still  |  13.2% ABV

In 1853 Château Brane Mouton was bought by Baron Nathaniel de Rothschild, and it was at this time that the property's name was changed to that which we known today. Nathaniel's great-grandson Philippe changed to 100% chateau bottling for the 1924 vintage, having a special label designed to mark the occasion. A special label was not again commissioned until the end of WWII, when the '45 vintage bore a specially designed victory ticket. A different label has been commissioned every vintage since. In 1973, after a long struggle by Philippe, Mouton joins the ranks of the first growths.

Tasting Notes
Tasting Notes

"Deep garnet colored, the 2009 Mouton Rothschild gives up bold earthy notions of underbrush, tilled soil and fungi over a core of crème de cassis, plum preserves and Indian spices with a waft of camphor. Full-bodied with a firm, velvety tannin texture and packed with black fruit preserves and exotic spice layers, it has seamless freshness and a very long, decadently fruited finish. 99/100." Sweetness Explained
Sweetness Explained

Sweetness

All our wines are given a Sweetness Indicator from 1 to 5, with 1 being the driest and 5 being the sweetest.
This can be found for every wine under the Wine Details tab.

Most red wines are dry and therefore are indicated with a 1. The sweetness becomes more relevant with white wines, sparkling wines and pudding/dessert wines such as Sauternes and Tokaji.
