The wines at this great Volnay estate are now made by Frédéric Lafarge, Michel's son. The domaine works around 10 hectares of vines biodynamically and produces among the finest wines in the Côte de Beaune. The cellars here are low-ceilinged, cobwebbed and there's very little evidence of new barrels (very few are employed). Yet the wines emanating from the old wood casks are as beautiful an expression of their individual grape varieties and terroirs as one could hope to encounter.

"Just a single cuvée with no Vendanges Sélectionées possible. Fresh light purple. very pretty raspberry and alpine strawberry, very elegant charming nose but rather more backward on the palate, some darker fruit, a few tannins, plenty of wine here but currently not quite in place, but clearly with full potential." Jasper Morris MW
All our wines are given a Sweetness Indicator from 1 to 5, with 1 being the driest and 5 being the sweetest.
This can be found for every wine under the Wine Details tab.
Most red wines are dry and therefore are indicated with a 1. The sweetness becomes more relevant with white wines, sparkling wines and pudding/dessert wines such as Sauternes and Tokaji.
