Château de Beaucastel has long been regarded as one of the most celebrated estates in Châteauneuf-du-Pape. The vineyard is situated at the northern limit of CNDP where it benefits from its exposure to the mistral winds. All 13 permitted varieties are planted in the vineyard and used in the wine.

"good, thick dark red. There are running lines of black berry fruit across the glass, with notes of grilled bacon, a sweep of the berry – the nose is slotting into shape, the jigsaw makes progress. It is very profound, still has work to do. Handsome, muscular wine with a well-packed central to late palate, has real fire in its delivery, goes very long. Mourvèdre at its height here, with Provençal scents, implicit garrigue seasoning. It has a lot of striking content – no glass is too large for this amount of well shaped, widespread wine. Captures vintage and place extremely well, is STGT wine. From 2019, say.. “It is one of the three or four Grands Hommages, with 1990, 1989 (although that was a lot more ripe in style, the first year we made it), 2007 (very ripe),” François Perrin." All our wines are given a Sweetness Indicator from 1 to 5, with 1 being the driest and 5 being the sweetest.
This can be found for every wine under the Wine Details tab.
Most red wines are dry and therefore are indicated with a 1. The sweetness becomes more relevant with white wines, sparkling wines and pudding/dessert wines such as Sauternes and Tokaji.
