The name of this estate is taken from its mid-18th century owner, Count Louis Francois de Belcier, and numerous freshwater springs to be found around the estate. The count built the chateau we see today. The property changed hands a couple of times before being recorded as the first purchase of a Bordeaux classified growth by a Chinese citizen in 2012 when it was purchased by the Wang Songwei family. Major renovations were undertaken before the estate was sold twice more, latterly to Hong Kong businessman Peter Kwok, who owns a portfolio of Bordeaux chateaux. Bellefont Belcier has 12.5 hectares of vineyards.

N.B. This is 70% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Franc and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon A very smoky oak nose spices up ripe fruit of bramble and black plum. A cool entry to the palate here and a touch creamy, too. Some big, nutty tannins frame the pure plum fruit. This is cool; almost a touch aloof. Fresh and long and grippy, with a subtle, linear shape. Finishes very well indeed. Bowes Wine original note
All our wines are given a Sweetness Indicator from 1 to 5, with 1 being the driest and 5 being the sweetest.
This can be found for every wine under the Wine Details tab.
Most red wines are dry and therefore are indicated with a 1. The sweetness becomes more relevant with white wines, sparkling wines and pudding/dessert wines such as Sauternes and Tokaji.
