Tasting Notes
Tasting Notes

"In 2000 the estate was run by Marc Pagès, Jacques Boissenot was consultant at this point. This is an attractive, softly spoken Medoc with plenty of tertiary notes, from walnut to tobacco, with the edges a little smudged - Pagès believed in a touch of oxidation during the early stages of winemaking, leaving the bung off the barrel for the first month of ageing, and ensuring at least four rackings off the yeast lees during the ageing process. It's very much in its drinking phase, and is a good reflection of what a warm vintage offers to classic Cru Bourgeois-style wines. Traditional in feel, it's still pretty young in terms of its tannins and grip. There's a slight medicinal, eucalyptus edge on the finish, alongside clear spice notes. 2% Cabernet Franc makes up the blend. A maximum of 20% new oak is used." Jane Anson for Decanter Magazine in 2018.

Sweetness Explained
Sweetness Explained

Sweetness

All our wines are given a Sweetness Indicator from 1 to 5, with 1 being the driest and 5 being the sweetest.
This can be found for every wine under the Wine Details tab.

Most red wines are dry and therefore are indicated with a 1. The sweetness becomes more relevant with white wines, sparkling wines and pudding/dessert wines such as Sauternes and Tokaji.
