Marc and Alex Bachelet have rapidly taken their 10 hectare domaine to the top of the Burgundy hierarchy. They work their vineyards naturally, eschewing herbicides. And they practice pre-ox for their whites, a technique whereby the pressed juice is allowed to oxidise before fermentation, stabilising the finished wine and obviating the risk of prem-ox i.e. the wine ageing prematurely. A domaine renowned for their electric white wines, do not ignore their reds, which are utterly delicious too. The domaine headquarters are in the delightfully-named Dézize-lès-Maranges, in the very south of the Côte de Beaune.

As ever, this is more reserved than the Fussière, with aromas of dark, dark fruit showing notes of wet tobacco. Fruit reminded me of glacé plum. Entry is very rich and plush and dark, of both plum and cherry, all extremely pure. And it’s backed by rich and tacky tannin. This is just superb. These wo red Maranges make for a fascinating comparison of Maranges’s soils. Bowes Wine original note
"BTW we love the wine, what a great expression of Pinot Noir, one of the most approachable and enjoyable Burgundies we have tried in a long while. Will buy some more..." Client comment
All our wines are given a Sweetness Indicator from 1 to 5, with 1 being the driest and 5 being the sweetest.
This can be found for every wine under the Wine Details tab.
Most red wines are dry and therefore are indicated with a 1. The sweetness becomes more relevant with white wines, sparkling wines and pudding/dessert wines such as Sauternes and Tokaji.
