This estate dates from the start of the 20th century when Georges Lignier inherited some vines from his father. It remains a family enterprise to this day. Benoit Stehly - the nephew of Georges's grandson - now runs the estate, which covers 16 hectares that includes 50 parcels of vines in 17 different communes.

Real Chambolle fragrance here in slightly creamy form. There’s a note of toasty wood, but simply under-scoring the wealth of sumptuous dark plum fruit. Smoke and bramble in the rich aromas. Rich, plush entry almost instantly picks up a tannic thread. It becomes cooler, more controlled. The spine of tannin becomes really upright, direct; pointed. Very, very long wine and the grippy acidity sits within, meets the tannin in the finish. And there’s a hazelnut note about this. could be the wood. Not sure. But this will give pleasure soon… and probably keep well, too. Lovely. Bowes Wine original note
"Open and scented with pretty red fruits as well as the depth of ripe but sour cherry. Those lovely fruit flavours on the palate too, encased in relatively firm, rounded tannins. A more savoury style of Chambolle, which I did not expect from the open and scented first impression." Julia Harding MW
All our wines are given a Sweetness Indicator from 1 to 5, with 1 being the driest and 5 being the sweetest.
This can be found for every wine under the Wine Details tab.
Most red wines are dry and therefore are indicated with a 1. The sweetness becomes more relevant with white wines, sparkling wines and pudding/dessert wines such as Sauternes and Tokaji.
